FAQs

Ideally in your 2nd or 3rd trimester, well before your baby is born. This gives us time to try to personalise the photoshoot to your family and avoids the chance of missing out, as I only take on a limited number of sessions a month.

The ideal window for most newborn photography, is when they are 5 – 14 days old after birth, while they can sleep well and be easily posed. As the days fly by, they begin to be awake for longer periods and are less flexible, so traditional posed newborn photography becomes more of a challenge. If you have missed the first couple of weeks after birth, we can still recreate some of the newborn images, it just means that the baby will most probably be a bit more alert and slightly bigger. We will always adapt my style to each family to personalise the experience and ensure you are left with some beautiful memories from our day together.

Yes. We provide the newborn session at your place with an extra of $60 travelling cost around Hobart region.

Maternity sessions are best organised in week 30 to 36. We will discuss in advance if you have a preference on how you would like to be photographed on the day. This will be an intimate and relaxed photo shoot where you are in the centre of it all. Together we will create some beautiful photographs to help you remember his unique stage of your life. I will provide props like fabrics and maternity lace robe but of course you are welcome to add your own personal touch to the session.

After I receive confirmation of a booking, I always schedule a consultation chat to go through what to expect and how to prepare, so we can get the most from your photoshoot. I will also follow up with a reminder, after the baby is born and a few days before the photoshoot itself.

Our studio has a collection of unique boutique clothing, accessories, props and fabrics to complement our portrait style, along with a collection of maternity gowns and clothing for young children… but I do love personalising sessions, so if you have an item that you would like to include in the session, that is always welcomed.

Our cake smash option is one of our most requested set ups and families love planning a creative session with décor & a cake to match a favourite book, party or nursery theme. The opportunities for creativity are endless! I love crafting, so after we talk about inspiration for your session, I will create the perfect custom backdrop for your little one’s birthday portraits.  And you can get a cake that goes with the setup and bring it with you on the shooting day, some towels too because it will get messy. Special designed backdrops will need two months prior to prepare, please contact us for further details.

One of the best things about living in Hobart is the extraordinary amount of natural space. The beautiful parks and beaches are a gift for outdoor sessions. They provide lots of variety in backdrops. I recommend Botanical Garden and/or Kingston beachside in the afternoon time. They’re open enough to allow children to run around, and to have a stunning variety of planting and colours. I choose the exact spots on the day based on the weather, the light and which plants are in flower.

We offer viewing session at the studio to view your images. From these you can pick your favourites for framing, download or display.
